Queridos amigos,
Rotary, como nuestro distrito, sigue fuerte y activo. Acabamos de cumplir 115 años y nos mantenemos en forma. En apenas tres meses podremos mostrar el trabajo realizado con motivo del Congreso de Granada, acordaros enviar a los responsables, fotos y reseñas del trabajo que realizáis para que podamos disfrutar de los logros de TODOS los clubes. No queremos dejar a ninguno atrás. Jesús Macario jesusmacario@gmail.com para “gente en acción” y cualquier acto del club y Antonio Vázquez (antoniovazquezdelatorre@gmail.com) para proyectos, son los responsables que recogen los testimonios gráficos. La subvención distrital ha sido aprobada y esperamos en unos días recibir los fondos para remitirlos a los clubes que la solicitasteis y que se puedan desarrollar las acciones programadas.
Dr. DENIS MUKWEGE, ginecólogo congoleño, defensor de los derechos humanos, en especial de las mujeres víctimas de la violencia sexual como arma de guerra. Fundó y trabaja en el Hospital Panzi en Bukavu, donde se ha especializado en el tratamiento de las mujeres que han sido violadas por los cruentos conflictos étnicos y políticos desarrollados en la República Democrática del Congo. Se trata de uno de los héroes de la medicina de hoy que cuenta ya con numerosas distinciones de carácter internacional como el Premio Nobel de la Paz (2018) el Sájarov del Parlamento Europeo (2014) o el Premio Derechos Humanos de las Naciones Unidas (2008).
La ceremonia de entrega del premio tendrá lugar en Alicante el día 17 de abril y el sábado 18 se celebrará con él una sesión académica, una buena oportunidad para poder escuchar y compartir con el Dr. Denis Mukwege.
Rotary dedica este mes al Agua, saneamiento e higiene. En nuestro distrito se ha concluido este año un proyecto en Guinea Ecuatorial que ha desarrollado de forma ejemplar esta idea, mejorando los sanitarios y la canalización de aguas residuales en un colegio de Bata promovido por el RC Alicante Lucentum. Y hay algún otro club trabajando esta idea para Madagascar.
El trabajo en equipo entre clubes y distrito está surtiendo efecto y nuestro eslogan interno DECIRHACER es una realidad este año, el 39% de los clubes ya han conseguido a estas fechas la Mención Presidencial y seguiremos sumando clubes en las próximas fechas, demostrando (decirhacer) que nuestro Distrito está compuesto por clubes eficientes y eficaces en sus procesos, y activos en sus proyectos de servicios, cumpliendo los objetivos marcados por Rotary Internacional.
Como sabéis, “la caja de herramientas” está a vuestra disposición y recordar que juntos somos más fuertes, acordaros que los miembros del equipo están a vuestra disposición para ayudaros a solucionar los problemas, disipar dudas y mantener ese espíritu de servicio que estáis demostrando.

Dear friends, both Rotary and our district, remain strong and active. We just turned 115 and we keep fit.
In just three months we can show the work done on the occasion of the Congress of Granada, remember to send to those responsible, photos and reviews of the work you do so that we can enjoy the achievements of ALL clubs. We do not want to leave anyone behind. Jesús Macario jesusmacario@gmail.com for «people in action» and any act of the club and Antonio Vázquez (antoniovazquezdelatorre@gmail.com) for projects, are responsible for collecting the graphic testimonies.
The district grant has been approved and we hope to receive the funds in a few days to send them to the clubs that requested it and so that the programmed actions can be implemented.
This year the Balmis prize promoted by the RC. Alicante has been awarded to Dr. DENIS MUKWEGE, Congolese gynecologist, defender of human rights, especially for women victims of sexual violence as a weapon of war. He founded the Panzi Hospital in Bukavuy where he now works. He has specialized in the treatment of women who have been raped by the bloody ethnic and political conflicts developed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He is one of the heroes of medicine today who already has numerous international distinctions such as the Nobel Peace Prize (2018) the Sakharov of the European Parliament (2014) or the United Nations Human Rights Award (2008 ).
Rotary dedicates this month to Water, sanitation and hygiene. In our district, a project in Equatorial Guinea has been completed this year that has developed this idea in an exemplary way, improving sanitary facilities and sewage channeling in a Bata school promoted by RC Alicante Lucentum. And there is some other club working on this idea for Madagascar.
Teamwork between clubs and district is taking effect and our internal slogan “DECIRHACER”(IF YOU SAY IT, DO IT) is a reality this year, 39% of clubs have already obtained the Presidential Mention at this time and we will continue adding clubs in the next dates, demonstrating (“If you say it, do it”) that our District is composed of efficient and effective clubs in its processes, and active in its service projects, fulfilling the objectives set by Rotary International.
As you know, «the toolbox» is at your disposal and remember that together we are stronger. The team members are at your disposal to help you solve the problems, dispel doubts and maintain that spirit of service that you are demonstrating.
