31 Dic Carta del Gobernador Enero
Queridos amigos:
No es momento de lamentaciones o de excusarnos en la acción, o inacción, que han tenido los clubes. El tiempo ha sido igual de complicado para todos y, la reacción, ha sido diferente.
Hay quienes han sentido de forma real que, Rotary Abre Oportunidades y no han dejado de trabajar y de inventarse formas de colaborar con sus vecinos, y otras organizaciones y asociaciones, en proyectos que han mejorado la vida de personas que esperaban de nosotros precisamente eso: nuestra ayuda.
Estoy orgulloso de todos los que habéis sido capaces de encontrar la forma de adaptar vuestra vocación de servicio a las necesidades y lo habéis hecho inventando oportunidades y no buscando excusas. Estoy orgulloso, como Gobernador de este Distrito, de todos y cada uno de vosotros, Rotarios, que conformáis todos los clubes a los que viene para dar servicio y he aprendido con vosotros a respetar los ritmos de cada uno, a aceptar la particularidad de cada club y de cada estilo de vivir Rotary.
Estoy orgulloso de esta organización mundial que llamamos Rotary de la que este Distrito es una pequeña porción capaz de contribuir a mejorar, y a su vez a mejorarnos a nosotros mismos, a los habitantes de este prodigioso planeta.
Estoy aquí para mostraros mi agradecimiento, no para hacer arengas de ningún tipo, os quiero a todos con ganas de superar lo que parecía insuperable, de contribuir donde parecía imposible, de trabajar ordenadamente donde no se podía, de sonreír en momentos de tristeza, de tragaros el miedo para dar confianza a los demás: sois personas maravillosas que un día decidisteis dar lo mejor de vosotros al servicio de los demás.
Todavía tenemos por delante una etapa extraordinaria de ilusión y trabajo para generar ese gran cambio que hemos querido aportar a nuestro Rotary. Estamos justo a la mitad de nuestro tiempo, pero no de nuestro camino, hemos de seguir con paso firme para alcanzar la meta y dejar preparado un proyecto de futuro para los que vienen detrás.
Nuestro presidente Holger Knaack nos dice en su carta de Enero:
«Deseamos enriquecer y energizar nuestros clubes con nuevas discusiones e ideas. Pero, ¿cómo podemos atraer a diversos profesionales, con distintas formaciones, edades y experiencias, que estén motivados por un sentido de integridad tan sólido como el nuestro?.»
Yo os digo que deberíais reuniros de forma virtual o presencial, según las circunstancias de cada lugar, hablar de qué Club tenéis en este momento, de qué Club queréis tener en el futuro y cuál es la forma y la programación para que así sea. Es importante la adaptación a los nuevos tiempos, a los nuevos liderazgos, a las nuevas ideas, al momento que nos hará sentir la vida de forma diferente a como la sentíamos hace unos meses. Saber quiénes queremos que sean nuestros compañeros de viaje sin renunciar a nuestros principios esenciales: la Amistad, el Compañerismo, y la Ética aplicada en nuestra vida, en nuestra empresa, en nuestra forma de mirar con ilusión al futuro.
Con clubes así tendremos personas válidas, de ideas frescas, profesionales éticos para generar la oportunidad de seleccionar a los mejores para trabajar con nosotros y juntos conseguir la ilusión y dar la bienvenida al Rotary del Siglo XXI. Esta es la oportunidad.
Queridos Rotarios os deseo un Feliz Año 2021 cargado de esa ilusión y esa esperanza que, sin duda, somos capaces de generar por nuestra parte y nuestra fuerza para todo el mundo.
Somos Rotarios, somos Gente de Acción que ven cómo Rotary Abre Oportunidades.

Dear friends:
This is no time for regrets or apologies in the action, or inaction, that clubs have had. Time has been just as complicated for everyone and the reaction has been different.
There are those who have really considered that Rotary Opens Opportunities and have not stopped working and inventing ways to collaborate with their neighbours, and other organisations and associations, on projects that have improved the lives of people who expected from us precisely that: our help.
I am proud of all those who have been able to find a way to adapt their vocation of service to needs and have done so by inventing opportunities and not seeking excuses. I am proud, as Governor of this District, of each and every one of you Rotarians, who make up all the clubs to which you join to serve and I have learned with you to respect each other’s rhythms, to accept the particularity of each club, and every Rotary way of doing.
I am proud of this global organization we call Rotary of which this District is a small part capable of helping to improve, while becoming better ourselves, the inhabitants of this prodigious planet.
I am here to show you my gratitude, not to make any kind of speech, I want you all wishing to overcome what seemed insurmountable, to contribute where it seemed impossible, to work orderly where you could not, to smile in moments of sadness, to hide your fear to give confidence to others: you are wonderful people who one day decided to give your best in the service of others.
We still have an extraordinary period of enthusiasm and work ahead of us to bring about that great change we’ve wanted to bring to our Rotary. We are just in the middle of our time, but not of our way, we must continue with steady step to reach the goal and prepare a project for the future in benefit of those that will come after us.
Our President Holger Knaack tells us in his January letter:
«We want to enrich and enliven our clubs with new discussions and ideas. But how do we attract diverse professionals, from different backgrounds, ages and experiences, who are all driven by a strong sense of integrity as we are?»
Let me say that you should meet in a virtual or face-to-face way, depending on the circumstances of each place, talk about what kind of Club you have now, what kind of Club you wish to have in the future and what would be the way and programming to do so. It is important to adapt to the new times, to the new leadership, to the new ideas, to the moment that will make us feel life differently to what we did a few months ago. Find out who we want our travel companions to be without giving up our essential principles: Friendship, Camraderie, and Ethics in our lives, in our company, in our way of looking forward to the future.
With such clubs we will have valid people, fresh ideas, ethical professionals to generate the opportunity to select the best to work with us and together get the enthusiasm to welcome the 21st century Rotary. This is the opportunity.
Dear Rotarians, I wish you Happy New Year 2021 full of that enthusiasm and hope that we are undoubtedly able to generate on our part and with our strength for everyone.
We are Rotarians, we are people of Action who witness how Rotary Opens Opportunities.
